If I talked now to myself one year ago, I would have many things to tell the past me. It would probably be something along these lines:
Hey, I know you are worried about many things right now, but trust me, this year will be more beautiful than you can now imagine. It might start a bit rocky, and you will be sad and will suddenly get a piercing in Berlin, but will never regret it afterwards. You will be upset right before going to Japan, but that trip will turn out to be like a movie. Please, don’t worry about your body and sports – you are about to discover the perfect activity for you. That will happen by accident, you have never heard about it yet – capoeira, and it will be right what you need. I know you are sad that you did not join any theater this year, and you missed it in your life. Spyros will come to your exhibition and will tell you about improv, and it will make you so happy, you will meet many fascinating people there. You will cut your hair short — the shortest you've ever had, and you will travel. A lot.
You don’t know it yet, but you will become an auntie once again. Other than that, EASA will bring you so much meaning, will make you feel present and calm, and you will meet special people there, too. You will also apply for an internship and will get important work experience in a firm you love. You will be a student assistant again, but this time it will make you even happier, especially the people around you. By the end of the year, your family and your closest friends will come together, and you will restore some of the lost connections, alongside the precious new ones.
Long story short, just remember: when it seems to you that everything is falling apart, give it time. When you think to yourself ‘I ruined everything’ – think about all the countless unknowns your future still has to offer and embrace the impermanence… as you never know, which roles the people of your current life will take in the future, and even relationships – possibly coming to the surface one evening because of the cancelled Flixbus.
