At the beginning of March 2023, I had my e
xhibition of the drawings I was creating every day throughout 2022, having a collection of more than 365 of them – each showing my life from the inside, with an internal lens of reality. ‘About
today’ is an exhibition of drawings I have been creating daily throughout 2022. However, to me it is way more than a series of daily drawings – it is an image diary, a recollection of stories, people, emotions and feelings I have experienced that year.
A story that started to me as an experiment became a daily art meditation, a guide to my inner transformations. The exhibition displayed my personal works of art, where all of them were brought together and grouped per month, with a
descriptive text available next to it. Other than the drawings themselves on the walls, I also created a book that tells more about the experience of daily drawings and shows all of them on the pages. At the exhibition, everyone could pick a postcard
printed from the drawings that I created. Daily drawings still continue in the present moment, October 2025.
While art is often an individualistic practice, exhibiting my drawings created space for meaningful connections. Local artists I otherwise would not meet, came to see my artworks, and we connected over those conversations. Once, I caught someone standing next to the drawings and crying. I was surprised, and I asked her about it, when she said how relatable it was - what she saw in my drawings.
This made me realize that showing your personal life, this visual diary, was incredibly important. Us, students living far away from home, more often are going through similar things than what we can imagine. Showing it to the world might mean that someone will feel less alone when looking at your drawings.
This exhibition truly became a collaboration - I still keep some drawings from the one people made that day, and I felt i contributed to the community by sharing my art. Some people told me later they started drawing more after visiting my exhibition - and this in itself made a huge difference.
